Directioners,
rejoice! The men of One Direction surprised fans with some big news on
Monday, Sept. 8, announcing their plans for the band's fourth album —
appropriately titled Four — and releasing a new song with the news of the upcoming project, "Fireproof."
Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson teased the news via One Direction's official Twitter in the early hours of Monday morning, writing, "Anyone get the feeling this is going to be a big week?"
They then released a video
of the band making the announcement. "As you know, we've spent the last
few months on our stadium tour," Horan said in the clip. "But, we've
also been working on our next album."
Styles
then chimed in, adding, "We're really proud of it, and we hope you
won't mind us sharing a track with you… The track is from our brand new
album, Four."
Due out on Nov. 17, Four follows One Direction's pattern of yearly November album releases. The band debuted its last studio album, Midnight Memories in November 2013, previously releasing Take Me Home in November 2012 and Up All Night in November 2011. All three projects have gone multiplatinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
