Huge fire at University of Nottingham campus building site

A large fire at the University of Nottingham is being tackled by 50 firefighters. It is thought to have broken out in the GlaxoSmithKline building on Triumph Road.Firefighters are tackling a "significant" blaze at the University of Nottingham. Around 60 firefighters are at the scene after being called to the campus shortly after 8.30pm on Friday night.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire fire and rescue said:"We were called at 8.36pm to a building under construction on Triumph Road in Radford. The building is part of the University of Nottingham campus." Huge blaze lighting up the night sky with plumes of smoke coming from the building. The cause of the blaze was as yet unknown, a fire spokesman said. The university put out a statement just before midnight saying that it did not believe the fire had claimed any lives.
